HATHA YOGA
FINDING BALANCE WITHIN
This is a traditional way of practising yoga. We focus mainly on the energetic effects of our practice. Each class leads us into a meditative state and includes asanas, pranayama and meditation. Different energetic systems such as bandhas and chakras are used to direct our energy in the desired direction.
Hatha Yoga, derived from the Sanskrit words “ha” (sun) and “tha” (moon), aims to restore harmony and balance within by harmonizing the forces of the sun and the moon within us through the pillars of concentration of the mind, awareness, and presence.
Yoga is not gymnastics, but an accurate science of self-development. This style of yoga goes beyond physical exercise, tapping into the essence of our being.
Yoga means union and therefore serves as a means to harmonize the beneficial energies of the universe with the corresponding levels within ourselves.
Hatha Yoga follows the law of resonance. We are a miniature copy of the universe. In other words, we are a microcosm and the universe is a macrocosm, or "as above, so bellow". During resonance, through the diverse tantric hatha yoga techniques, we can attune the microcosm of our bodies with the macrocosm of the universe. In the same way that a radio set can be tuned to different radio frequencies. During this resonance, a transfer of subtle energy takes place, and the energy from the cosmic source flows into the practitioner’s microcosm.
We use not only the physical body, but also the tantric's knowledge of the energies in the universe. While we hold the asanas, we focus on the chakras (energy centres) and the energy flow in the body. This allows us to connect with the energies of the universe.
This unique style of yoga can bring much more than just improving the physical body. We can change our character and step into our strength. For example, if I want to work on my self-love, I can specifically tap into the resonance of love and since all energies in the universe are infinitely available, I can, so to speak, download this energy from the universe into myself. With time and practice, this can bring change in myself.
At a physical level, through this style of yoga, we can for instance:
-
increase flexibility
-
get relief from back pain
-
strengthen our muscles
In the same way, psychological improvements can be achieved. For example:
-
increased self-confidence
-
more developed will-power
Furthermore, the following mental improvements can also be attained:
-
emotional balance
-
inner stability
-
better memory
-
more focus
Of course, changes can only happen little by little, and with a steady and committed practice. Are you ready to improve your life with this ancient and proved system? You can join the next Hatha Yoga class and start exploring and practising this age-old yoga system.
